Wuskowhan Players Club

Hello everyone,

The Pro Shop Staff would like to welcome everyone to another great season of golf at Wuskowhan Players Club.  The weather has been fantastic already in April and we have had a lot of activity already around the club and the golf course.   Like the Founders who have continued to make the commitment to excellence on the golf course; we would also like to stress our dedication to provide the best service possible to our membership.  We will continue to push our golf staff to give their best and provide a high level of service for any and all of your needs.  To help with in our quality of service, we ask you to remind your guest about our dress code policy, no hat policy while in the club house and the no cell phone policy.  If cell phones need to be used, we ask for them to be used in the locker room only.

With the new season comes new equipment and fashion.  Drivers continue to receive the most technology upgrades and will make for some excitement on our demo day which will be held on Friday, May 28th from 10-4.  The new technology is allowing the player to adjust the face angles of the driver to assist in correcting slices or hooks.  The Pro Shop is already fully stocked in all the latest and greatest equipment.  Please remember the special member pricing we give on all our golf products.  Our prices are as good, if not better than all retail golf outlets, websites and magazines.  Also, club fitting will remain important step when buying a new set of irons and is a service in which your professional staff is trained to assist you in.  New apparel is also on its way to our Pro Shop.  We assure you that we will continue to bring in the highest quality of clothing as well as many different styles and price points to choose from.  We would also like everyone to know that we can and are willing to do special orders for anyone that likes something they see but not the size needed.

We continue to be excited about the new website we installed last year.  New to this site will be current events around the club, newsletters, Pro Shop sales, menus, daily/weekly features for dinning, news about what happening on the golf course and current Wuskowhan Point List standings.  Also, check out the event sign up feature where you can sign up for all our events on line so you no longer have to mail in invitations or remember to call the Pro Shop to sign up for events.  Our goal is to continue to be more informative and drive participation through all areas of the club.

Now that May is here, our golf calendar is starting to fill up with events.  Our first event of the season is the Men’s Spring Opener on May 6th starting at 3:00.  The Thursday Night Men’s Group starts official play on May 13th.  No sign up is necessary; we start at 5:30 and draw cards for playing partners.  Our Ladies Opener is Thursday, May 20th.  Please join us for coffee at 8:30AM; followed by 18 holes of golf to kick off the season.

The Junior Golf Program continues to be an important tool for growing the game of golf.  Last year we had a lot of fun introducing a new teaching method for our juniors and we received great feedback from the juniors and parents!  Please look online for the 2010 Junior Clinic Schedule.  We are also offering a very special Kids night on Wednesday, May 26th up in the dinning room.  From 5:30-7:30 our Nike shoe rep will be here to fit all your children with a new pair of golf shoes.  We are tying in the shoe fitting with a special Family Night Dinner so come on in, get fit for some shoes, clubs and stay for a wonderful meal.

We will also be continuing the Junior Golfer Incentive Program which will encourage junior golfers to be active on the course as well as on the practice facilities.  With the rising age of our junior golfers we have had many questions over the years of when it is ok for them to play on their own.  To help answer this question, we have put in place a test they must first pass on either a Wednesday play day or with their parents.  In order for each Junior Golfer to be allowed to play on their own without adult supervision, they must first score under the target score for nine holes from the Sanctuary Tees as well as play the round in less than 2 hours walking.  If the Junior Golfer passes this playing test, they will receive a unique Wuskowhan bag tag which will signify their achievement and let everyone know they have earned the right to be one the golf course.

Don’t for get your early season tune-ups as Paul and I are excited to get back out on the lesson tee as it’s always good to start the new season off with fresh swing thoughts and drills.  Individual lessons, family packages, series of 3 and Jr. Packages are all available with Paul and myself.

Finally, the golf course & driving range will be closed for outings on the following three Monday’s: May 10th, 17th, and 24th.  For the month of May, the Pro Shop and driving range will be open from 7AM-8PM Tuesday-Sunday.

We hope to see you all real soon,

Kirk Scheerhorn
